Also known as Chromate Conversion Coating, the passivation process is used on aluminum alloys and castings as a corrosion inhibitor, decorative finish, or to assist in retaining electrical conductivity. The finish also acts as a superior primer for paint adhesion while also supplying corrosion resistance. Chicago Anodizing offers both TYPE I Hexachrome and the RoHS compliant TYPE II Trivalent Chromate.
